Updated June 2026 Kasplex L2: Kaspa's zkEVM Layer 2 Scaling Solution
Kasplex is the premier Layer 2 scaling solution for the Kaspa network. Built as a zkEVM rollup, Kasplex processes transactions off-chain and settles validity proofs on Kaspa L1 using the native Groth16 verification infrastructure introduced by the Toccata hard fork.
Testnet Milestone: Kasplex testnet has surpassed 270,000+ active wallet addresses, demonstrating strong community demand for DeFi capabilities on Kaspa. The ecosystem is growing rapidly with Kaskad Lending reaching $2M TVL in its first weeks.
How Kasplex Works
Kasplex operates as a ZK-rollup: a Layer 2 solution that bundles many transactions into a single batch, generates a zero-knowledge proof attesting to the batch's correctness, and submits that proof to Kaspa L1 for verification.
- Transaction Execution: Users send transactions to the Kasplex sequencer, which executes them in the zkEVM environment
- Proof Generation: The sequencer batches transactions and generates a Groth16 ZK proof
- L1 Settlement: The proof is submitted to Kaspa L1, where the native Groth16 verifier (Toccata) validates it
- Finality: Once verified on L1, the batch is considered final: inheriting Kaspa's PoW security
Key Features
- zkEVM Compatibility: Kasplex is compatible with Ethereum's EVM, meaning existing Ethereum smart contracts and dApps can be deployed with minimal changes
- Ethereum Tooling: Use MetaMask, Hardhat, Ethers.js, and other familiar Ethereum development tools
- KAS as Native Gas: Transaction fees on Kasplex are paid in KAS, maintaining alignment with the L1 economy
- Fast Finality: Transactions settle on L1 within minutes (limited by L1 block time and proof generation)
- Secure: Inherits Kaspa's PoW security through validity proofs; no trust assumptions beyond the base layer
Projects Building on Kasplex
Zealous Swap
Zealous Swap is the first decentralized exchange (DEX) on Kaspa, built on Kasplex L2. It functions similarly to Uniswap: an automated market maker (AMM) that allows users to swap between KAS and any KRC-20 token without intermediaries. As of June 2026, Zealous Swap is in testnet with mainnet launch expected alongside Kasplex mainnet.
- AMM-based swapping with concentrated liquidity (planned)
- KAS / KRC-20 token pairs
- Yield farming and liquidity mining (planned)
- Governance token (future)
Kaspa Finance
Kaspa Finance is a lending and borrowing protocol being built on Kasplex. Users will be able to deposit KAS and KRC-20 tokens as collateral, borrow against them, and earn interest on supplied assets. Still in early development as of June 2026.
Kaskad Lending
Kaskad Lending is the first lending protocol to launch on Kaspa's L2 ecosystem, and has already reached $2M in total value locked (TVL) as of June 11, 2026: signaling rapid adoption and strong demand for DeFi lending on Kasplex. Kaskad allows users to supply KAS and KRC-20 tokens as collateral, borrow against their positions, and earn interest on deposits. Its early success demonstrates that the Kaspa community is hungry for programmable financial primitives, and positions Kaskad as a foundational building block for the broader DeFi ecosystem on Kasplex.
- Supply KAS and KRC-20 tokens to earn interest
- Borrow against deposited collateral with over-collateralization
- Variable interest rates based on pool utilization
- $2M TVL within weeks of launch: fastest-growing dApp on Kasplex
Stablecoins on Kasplex
As of June 2026, USDT (Tether) and USDC (Circle) have been bridged from BNB Chain into the Kasplex ecosystem, bringing fiat-pegged stablecoin liquidity to Kaspa for the first time. These stablecoins are now available within Kasplex L2, enabling users to trade, lend, and transact using dollar-pegged assets.
The availability of bridged stablecoins is a critical milestone for Kasplex DeFi, as it provides:
- A familiar, low-volatility trading pair for DEXes like Zealous Swap
- Stable-denominated lending markets on protocols like Kaskad Lending
- An on-ramp for users who want to enter the Kaspa ecosystem without direct KAS exposure
- Foundation for future native stablecoin products (KAS-collateralized) on Kasplex
Kasperia Wallet: In-App Bridge Support
Kasperia is a user-friendly non-custodial wallet for the Kaspa ecosystem that now includes built-in bridge support for transferring assets into the Kasplex L2 environment. Rather than requiring users to navigate external bridge interfaces, Kasperia provides a seamless in-app experience for bridging KAS and KRC-20 tokens between L1 and L2.
- One-click bridging from Kaspa L1 to Kasplex L2
- Support for native KAS and all KRC-20 tokens
- Integrated dApp browser for interacting with Kasplex protocols
- Available on desktop and mobile platforms
- Lower friction for new users entering the Kasplex ecosystem
Kasplex Mainnet Status
As of June 2026, Kasplex is in late-stage testnet with strong community demand evident across the ecosystem. The project has undergone multiple testnet iterations and has demonstrated:
- 270,000+ unique active wallet addresses
- Successful ZK proof generation and L1 settlement
- Working DEX functionality via Zealous Swap
- EVM compatibility with common Ethereum dApps
Mainnet launch is anticipated in late 2026, though no firm date has been announced. The Toccata hard fork's native ZK infrastructure was a prerequisite for mainnet launch, so that milestone is now cleared.
Using Kasplex Testnet
To get started on the Kasplex testnet:
- Install MetaMask (or any EVM-compatible wallet)
- Add the Kasplex testnet RPC (provided by Kasplex documentation)
- Request testnet KAS from the Kasplex faucet
- Bridge testnet KAS to Kasplex L2 via the official bridge
- Interact with Zealous Swap or other testnet dApps
Future Potential for DeFi on Kaspa
Kasplex opens the door to a full DeFi ecosystem on Kaspa, with several categories already taking shape:
- DEXes: decentralized token swapping (Zealous Swap) with stablecoin pairs now available via bridged USDT/USDC
- Lending protocols: borrow and lend KAS and KRC-20 tokens (Kaskad Lending, $2M TVL)
- Stablecoins: KAS-collateralized stablecoins (like MakerDAO's DAI) are a natural next step, with bridged USDT/USDC providing initial liquidity and the lending infrastructure already in place via Kaskad
- Synthetic assets: tokenized versions of real-world assets such as synthetic gold, oil, or equity indices, enabled by the combination of ZK proofs and Kasplex's EVM composability
- Yield aggregators: automated yield optimization strategies across Kasplex protocols
- NFT marketplaces: trade native Kaspa NFTs
The combination of stablecoins, synthetic assets, and lending protocols creates a powerful flywheel: stablecoins provide low-volatility trading pairs for DEXes, lending protocols use stablecoins as borrowable assets, and synthetic assets expand the range of tradeable value. Kasplex's zkEVM architecture makes it straightforward to port existing Ethereum DeFi primitives, so the ecosystem is well-positioned for rapid growth following mainnet launch.
⚠ Early Stage Risk: Kasplex is still in testnet as of June 2026. Smart contracts may contain bugs, and bridge security is critical. Never bridge more funds than you can afford to lose during testnet/pre-launch phases.
Last updated: June 2026. Kasplex is in testnet: mainnet launch details, dates, and features are subject to change. Always use official channels for the latest information.
